DNS: Enable the Onyx DNS Tool

This article was posted in: Web Hosting

If you have pointed your nameservers to the Onyx Platform you will now be able to manage your DNS records within Onyx DNS tool. To do this we will first have to tell Onyx you wish to create records for the domain as by default it will only manage website traffic. To do this follow these steps:

  1. Login to your Onyx Portal
  2. From the top menu bar select DNS
  3. Click add a DNS domain
  4. Enter the following information:

    • Enter Your Domain Name
The domain you wish to enable the DNS tool for (i.e. www.domain.com)

  5. Click add this domain

On doing this you will then be taken to the DNS tool for your domain name. It will look like the above screenshot. By default the only records that will exist are two NS (Nameserver) records and two “Onyx Hosted Site” records which will point the domain name to the Onyx platform.

That’s it! You have now configured the DNS tool for your domain and you may now add as many records as need be, i.e. CNAME, A records etc. You can return to this domain within the DNS tool at any time by selecting it from the DNS dropdown in the top menu.

If you have completed the steps above before connecting your domain name to an Onyx site then you will only see the Nameserver records and may need to manually create the Onyx Hosted Site records at a later date.
